FRANKFURT – RWE on Thursday stated core earnings rose by about two thirds within the first-quarter, partly pushed by stronger winds, whereas a ban on Russian coal in Britain triggered an 850 million euros ($894 million) writedown.
“The UK authorities had already imposed sanctions in opposition to Russian Railways from March. As an organization that's lively within the UK, because of this RWE has not accepted any coal from Russia because the finish of March,” RWE stated.
“As a consequence, RWE has written off its long-term provide contract for Russian coal.”
