A statement is being made that courts are not independent they are not afraid of immorality Chief Justice Athar Minallah

WebDesk: Islamabad High Court :Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that in every speech it is being said that  Supreme Court of Pakistan &  High Court Islamabad are open at midnight  petition is being heard here & on  other hand a statement is being made that courts are not independent.

Justice Athar Minallah :During  hearing of the petition filed against Fawad Chaudhry blasphemy cases Chief Justice Pakistan Athar Minallah said that  PTI Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman had also asked why  courts should be open at night. Former Pm Imran Khan was sending a message to his workers that  courts Not free ask your client to let the court know if they trust  court? If  former PM Imran Khan doesn't trust the court then this court will-not hear the case. If Imran Khan is giving the message that  Supreme Court & the High Court are compromised.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah further said that according to the rules courts can be open 24 hours a day. There has-been a lot of campaign against courts. There is work to be done by the executive this court is hearing the cases of Missing Persons & Baloch students this court will-not allow them to be deprived of their rights by political statements. Relief has-been given in many cases after court hours.

Justice Athar Minallah :This court will hear the case again tomorrow. Inform court with instructions. The Chief Justice inquired that 4 petitions were filed in this court on April 9. Did this court hear any petition on night of April 9? The next day he dismissed the petition with a fine saying that if he did he would send the case to court he trusted.

Advocate Mr Faisal Chaudhry said I-will talk to them now & call them. The Chief Justice said No don't call them but inform the court with instructions. If not take out the record & see the relief given by this court on cases of the weaker sections.

Advocate Mr Faisal Chaudhry said that this court always gives relief to weaker sections. Our political opponents will use this court order against us politically.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that in every speech it is being said that  Supreme Court pakistan & High Court Islamabad are open at midnight why is it being said? Whether a statement is being made a petition is being heard here & a statement is being made on the other side it means that a statement is being made that courts are not independent these courts often pass orders on cases after court hours. This court will not come under any pressure nor is it afraid of immorality campaign.

Mr Faisal Chaudhry said that message of this court has been received but this order will be part of  political debate.

Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that this court cannot leave. This court has heard the speech itself yesterday. I have heard that speech. You can also go and listen to it. This court has always shown patience. Never contempt of court. Did not resort to law, there was a lot of criticism and a lot of immorality campaign was carried out, followers of your party think that I have a flat in Manchester, a picture of me with Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is being run.

But that picture is very good, said PTI lawyer.

The Chief Justice said that if there was any mistake on our part, we must criticize. There was a request that night that the Prime Minister was calling a cabinet meeting to stop him. This court did not entertain that request.
